Aged 50+ and wanting to feel more confident about cooking?
Wanting to meet like-minded people in a fun and friendly environment? 

LinkAge Network are working in partnership with three of Bristol’s City Farms, to run free cooking courses for people aged 50+.

The six to eight week courses will provide you with skills and knowledge to cook nutritious and tasty food, as well as the opportunity to meet and socialise with other local people.

Sessions will take place across the year at:

• St Werburghs City Farm: 26 April – 14 June, 5 July – 23 August, 13 September – 1 November (Thursdays)
• Windmill Hill City Farm: 10 July – 14 August and 25 Sept – 30 Oct (Tuesday mornings)
• Lawrence Weston Community Farm: dates to be confirmed

The September/October course at Windmill Hill City Farm will be for people who identify as LGBT+.

Charity Golf Day in aid of Crisis Centre Ministries As we mentioned last month, Bristol Breakfast Rotary Club are very kindly hosting a Charity Golf Day in aid of Crisis Centre Ministries. They’re hoping that local businesses will donate auction lots for golfers to bid on. (This will further help the fundraising efforts!) The Great Bristol 10K In just over a month’s time, hundreds of runners will be lining up to run the Great Bristol 10K. Could you become a regular CCM supporter?   Homelessness, addiction and mental health problems all mean that the lives of those we help can be highly chaotic. In the face of this chaos, one of the greatest things you can offer is stability. Brigstow would like to invite you to an event on 31^st January around ‘Living well in older age’.

This Brigstow and Anchor Society event is a chance to explore together some of the recent innovative projects in Bristol and beyond that ask what it means to live well in older age. In particular the focus will be on intergenerational encounters and living, and the co-design and creative use of technology with older people.

Our hope is that as well as an opportunity to take stock and learn together, the afternoon will also spark new ideas for experimental pilot research projects to be undertaken with Brigstow seedcorn funding.

The event will be held in the Moot Court Room, Bristol Law School and will start at midday with lunch and networking.

Bristol Grammar School have kindly offered LinkAge 40 spaces to their annual Wellbeing Lunch for over 55’s.

This will be the third year that Bristol Grammar School are hosting this popular free Afternoon Lunch. The event will include a hot meal, pudding and refreshments, music and entertainment, games and a raffle.

When: Wednesday 7th February 2018
Time: 1pm – 4pm
Venue: Failand Sports Pavilion, Clevedon Road, Failand, BS8 3UG

Parking is available on site. Transport is limited but can be arranged to collect from Bristol Grammar School, University Road, BS8 1SR. Please call for more details.
